Eric Strzalkowski is the owner and Head Trainer of Overtime K9 and the Head Trainer of the Broward Sheriff's Office Patrol K9 Unit. He is certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as both a Canine Instructor and Canine Team Evaluator and is responsible for the ongoing training of more than 20 active Patrol K9 Teams.
Eric brings that same level of experience, structure, and dedication to the family dogs he trains through Overtime K9.

Eric's Story
Eric's passion for dogs began long before Overtime K9. That passion eventually developed into a career dedicated to understanding canine behavior and building reliable partnerships between dogs and their handlers.
Eric began his law enforcement career with the Broward Sheriff's Office in 2009. Before becoming a Patrol K9 Handler, he served on the Dive Rescue Team and as a Field Training Officer.
In 2017, Eric became a Patrol K9 Handler and began working alongside his first Belgian Malinois, Monty. After Monty retired in 2021, Eric began working with his current K9 partner, Mako.
Throughout his career with the Patrol K9 Unit, Eric has been involved in the training and deployment of K9 teams throughout Broward County. His work has earned him numerous awards, commendations, and recognition for his service.
In 2024, after years of serving as an assistant trainer, Eric became the youngest Head Trainer in the history of the Broward Sheriff's Office Patrol K9 Unit.
Today, Eric is responsible for the ongoing training of more than 20 active Patrol K9 Teams, as well as helping instruct and certify new handlers through the required 480-hour Patrol Canine School.
That professional experience is the foundation of Overtime K9.

Eric's wife brings more than 12 years of experience in emergency and trauma nursing, including experience at Broward Health Medical Center. Together, they bring professionalism, compassion, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to the dogs entrusted to their care.
